The floating hut Overnight Adventure is a one of a kind experience in Iceland! When you start looking up places to stay in Iceland, you’ll end up with the usual – a fancy hotel, cozy Airbnb, or a cute cabin reserved just for you. But if you’re visiting Iceland to see the dramatic landscapes and untouched wilderness, you might not be satisfied with these options. Instead, you’re looking for something truly unique that will blend perfectly with the natural surroundings, creating a well-rounded experience.

If this sounds like you, we have the perfect accommodation for you – a floating igloo hut in Iceland.

Now, this isn’t just a unique place to stay in Iceland – it’s an experience. Imagine sleeping in the middle of a glacier lagoon, surrounded by drifting ice and open silence. This alone promises to be one of the best sleeps of your life!

However, our floating igloo huts in Iceland deliver so much more than that, and we’re here to show you exactly what.

The surroundings around the floating huts are stunning with floating icebergs, the glacier edge, and the mountain range.

A Stay Unlike Anywhere Else In Iceland

Our floating igloo huts in Iceland are set on the waters of Fjallsárlón, one of the country’s most striking landscapes.

Unlike standard hotels and Airbnbs, our glacier accommodations are placed right in the heart of nature. You’re surrounded by icebergs that move throughout the day, making you become one with the environment. By staying here, you’ll see no crowds or distractions. Instead, you’ll experience relaxation like never before.

With this kind of environment, we wanted to reinvent luxury stays in Iceland. While you don’t have all kinds of high-end amenities, our floating igloo huts in Iceland will deliver the sense of being somewhere that doesn’t exist anywhere else. And by all means, this kind of luxury can be truly hard to find.

There is nothing like the feeling of sitting outside the floating hut experiencing the peace and quite while admiring the view of floating icebergs and the Vatnajökull glacier.

Waking Up On A Glacier Lagoon

Even when you’re staying in a place located in a quiet area, it isn’t uncommon for you to be woken up by the outside noise. Well, this is rarely a possibility with our floating igloo huts.

Here, everything is quiet. The only sound you’ll hear is from the lagoon itself, specifically from the moving icebergs. The light is also impressive. Early in the morning and late into the evening, it reflects off the ice and water, making the entire landscape feel softer, more open, and slightly unreal.

That’s what makes staying in a glacier accommodation so different from anything else. The experience doesn’t start when you leave your accommodation, but from the moment you wake up.

Even though the floating huts are not big, they are designed for comfort and of course for a spectacular view.

Designed For Comfort

Although the huts are set in a remote location, that doesn’t mean they’re not designed for comfort.

Inside, the glacier accommodations are warm and inviting. You’re not overwhelmed with unnecessary features or distractions. Instead, everything is focused on giving you what you need while keeping your attention on what’s outside.

The huts are also easily transportable, so they don’t impact the environment. Also, they’re fitted with a composting toilet, a small kitchenette, electricity, and Wi-Fi. However, keep in mind that a shower isn’t featured in the huts or anywhere in Fjallsárlón.

Simply put, our floating igloo huts in Iceland are controlled environments in an otherwise unpredictable landscape, which allows you to fully relax into the experience rather than constantly thinking about logistics.

The Experience Along With The Stay

Sleeping among floating icebergs is already an experience in itself, but we take the extra mile to create a trip for you that will stay with you for a lifetime.

Being based on the lagoon gives you direct access to glacier experiences that most visitors only see from a distance. Guided tours, including zodiac boat rides, allow you to move through the ice-filled waters and get closer to the glacier itself.

Instead of just observing the landscape, you’ll be right in the heart of it, allowing you to experience it from multiple perspectives. Even if you’re just staying for the night, you’ll be living with the lagoon in complete solitude and silence.

The floating hut Overnight Adventure is not your regular stay! It is a tour and an experience including a short zodiac boat ride to your hut for the night.

What Makes This Experience So Attractive

Our floating igloo huts in Iceland are strictly limited. But that’s what makes the experience feel so exclusive and luxurious.

Being intentionally small means fewer people, more privacy, and more comfort. You’re not sharing the space with crowds or competing for viewpoints.

That sense of exclusivity isn’t forced, but it comes naturally from the setup itself. The location, scale, and structure of the experience all contribute to a feeling of personal rather than commercial.

And based on our previous travelers, this is exactly what has made the Aurora pods the highlight of their experience.

During late summer and fall, the Northern lights can sometimes be seen from the floating huts on Fjallsárlón. Seeing them dance above Vatnajökull glacier is truly magical!

Who Can Stay In The Floating Igloo Huts

The short answer – almost anyone.

If you’re visiting Iceland for the first time, it adds a completely unique layer to your trip. If you’ve already been before, it offers a new perspective on landscapes you might think you’ve already seen.

It’s also a strong choice for couples or anyone marking a special occasion. The setting naturally creates a sense of space and quiet that’s hard to replicate elsewhere.

Still, there are some considerations to keep in mind. The age limit for the Overnight Adventure Tour is 20 years old. Exceptions can be made for 12-19-year-olds when accompanied by a guardian.

Also, there are three huts in total, each accommodating up to two people. With that in mind, if you’re heading to Iceland as a group, it’s best to make a group reservation to ensure you’re all together.

Final Thoughts

Once you see what staying in a floating igloo hut in Iceland is all about – and all the experiences that come with it – you’ll have an entirely different outlook on your trip. Not many people can say they’ve slept on an iceberg, so you’re also granted bragging rights.

Since spaces are limited, we advise you to book early. As for the rest? We’ll take care of everything.
