It is out of the world experience. You will be able to see the icebergs from safe, closer distance. Also, the tour guide will give you some details about each iceberg and will take your photos in front of the icebergs.

Possibly one of the most unique experiences I’ve had travelling, and I’ve travelled a lot.
This zodiac tour through an iceberg lagoon was surreal, and totally worth it.
The staff were friendly, professional and knowledgeable. And the landscape felt like it was out of a movie set.

Book it asap.

Definitely do the boat tour! Cheaper and much better than the comparable offer at Jokulsarlon. Very nice and competent staff / boat driver. Ride between the icebergs up to 200m to the edge of the glacier. Nowhere else in Iceland can you get so close to a glacier from a boat!

Tour description

Embark on a tour with us and join the ranks of thousands of satisfied customers who have sailed with us in the past!
After suiting up you will be met by an experienced guide that will lead you through mossy otherworldly landscape to the lagoon and your boat. After take-off you will be circling icebergs of all shapes and sizes that every so often turn or flip over creating a spectacle, grab the opportunity and taste the ancient ice. The tour continues towards Vatnajokull Glacier, the largest glacier in Europe. We always sail up to the glacier wall or as close as it is safe to go.
Occasionally huge icebergs can be seen and heard breaking off the glaciers edge, falling dramatically into the lagoon before drifting away quietly and then melting slowly. Our guides make sure that you receive personal yet professional service, including a good insight into the history and the nature of the area, the glaciers, and icebergs.

  • Please check in 10-15 minutes prior to scheduled timing

We advise you to secure your tour reservations in advance, particularly during the peak season of June, July, and August. Nevertheless, if you spontaneously decide you want to join our adventure tour, there’s a good chance we can accommodate you on the same day.

The age limit for all boat tours, classic, private and luxury tours is 5 years old.

Difficulty rating is easy, you need to be able to walk on gravel path for approximately 5-7 minutes (each way) to the glacial lagoon and your boat. Also, you need to be able to sit unaided in the boat for 45 minutes.

We recommend that you bring a hat and gloves on our tours. In Iceland, the weather can quite unpredictable so dress accordingly. We also recommend that you bring your camera for those priceless photo opportunities!

Yes, we provide you with a specialized floating jacket that will keep you warm on the tour. We also provide you with a life west.

You will find Fjallsarlon in southeast Iceland, just of the main ring road no. 1. Type “Fjallsarlon Iceberg Boat Tours” into Google maps and you will get the right directions. Fjallsarlon parking lot is easily accessible for all cars and parking is free. Also, you can look for a big sign (FJALLSARLON ICEBERG BOAT TOURS) by the main road where you should exit the main ring road).

You will find us 370 km east of Reykjavik, 50 km east of Skaftafell National Park, 10 km west of Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon & Diamond beach and 90 km west of Hofn í Hornafirdi.

The safety of our passengers is a top priority! Our sailors are highly trained and well-prepared to respond to any incidents. We’re proud to share that, to date, we’ve sailed without any accidents during our tours so you can rest assured that you are in safe hands. The sailing is quite smooth so healthy pregnant women should feel safe and confident in joining our boat tour.

Yes, Frost restaurant is located on-site offering tasty food at reasonable prices. Frost is a buffet style bistro that offers hot food and salad bar, soups, coffee, cakes, and snacks. No need to prebook, just show up.

Our tours are a small boat adventure that gives you a rich and personal experience without the crowds. We exclusively sail on zodiacs (small boats), we sail close to icebergs towards the glacier. Fjallsarlon lagoon is simply perfect in size for boat tours. We always sail up to the „glacier wall “as safe as it is to go. The glacier at Fjallsárlón is extremely impressive, we call it the Glacier Giant, as it is massive and steep, you truly understand how small we humans really are. At Jokulsarlon you have a larger amphibian boat option which takes you for a 30-40 min. cruise exploring icebergs and then zodiac boats that sail closer to the glacier, the zodiac tour is longer in duration as the lagoon is bigger and you need to cover more distance on the water. You should also expect a lot more people at Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon, as it is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Iceland. We say go to Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon and take the photo but join our tours for a more personal and private experience.

The difference between tours is that on our Private Boat Tour you have the boat and your guide exclusively for yourself and therefore more flexibility where and how you sail during the tour. Time duration is the same on the Classic Boat Tour.
