ABOUT AURORAHUT
Each hut can accommodate two persons in a double bed. This unique lodging is designed with comfort and style in mind. Glass walls and glass ceiling offer an exceptional view from inside the hut. The boats are fitted with a composting toilet, small kitchenette, electricity, and Wi-Fi. Please note that there are no shower facilities available on location. The age limit is 20 years old.
We recommend that guests have dinner before arriving.
During summer appreciate the 24-hour daylight and throughout spring and autumn admire the pristine landscape as twilight falls. Please note that you will be taken to the Igloo boat by a zodiac boat (summer & shoulder season). The hut floats on the lagoon so you will not be able to go on land during your stay!

The AuroraHut is a ground-breaking eco-friendly lodging that can be easily moved from one place to another. The comfortable, and modern hut can be moved across ice, snow, or water without impacting nature and surrounding area. We are therefore able to place them on the glacier lagoon where there will be no light pollution, away from other travelers and traffic.
PRICE FOR OVERNIGHT STAY
155.000.- ISK for a one-night stay for up to two people in each hut.
The price includes full use of the Igloo boat, bedding, round-trip Zodiac boat transportation, post-stay cleaning, as well as a light breakfast and dinner brought on-board prior to arrival (breakfast bread w. toppings, icelandic skyr & coffee. Light dinner chicken & vegetable wraps).
CHECK IN
Check-in is at 17:30 (later check-in is 15.000.- ISK each extra hour). Check-out is around 09:00 AM.
Transport to and from the boat is by a Zodiac boat (approximately 10 minutes each way) depending on location of the huts.
Please note that the overnight adventure is not considered to be your normal accommodation or a hotel but a real Icelandic adventure.

An amazing experience once in a lifetime. A short tour of the lagoon is included. The beauty of the iceberg and the lagoon are breathtaking. And the silence is priceless.
A 15mins “private” glacier lagoon boat tour by an experienced tour guide was provided before arriving at the living hut. The hut was unexpectedly warm, creating a comfortable sleeping place in a glacier lagoon. A wonderful experience we wake up by the sun rising reflected by glacier.

Absolutely incredible experience- our Aurorahut / Glacier Lagoon Igloo was wonderful, we had stunning views of the glacier, and the whole lagoon to ourselves overnight. The hut is very compact but extremely comfortable, and a real once in a lifetime experience! The staff were brilliant, very knowledgeable, super friendly and helpful.

The age limit is 20 years old. However, if we have a responsible parent with a young adult (17-20 years old) we may make an exception. Please note that we cannot allow young children to join the Overnight Adventure due to safety rules.
The absolute maximum number of guests for each hut is two people.
The Overnight Adventure starts at 17:30 with check in and preparation. Our guide will take you along with other guests (max three couples) to the huts by boat. The guide drops guests off one by one, for an adventurous night. Before leaving you will be provided with all the information you need for your comfort and stay in the AuroraHut. Pick-up and check-out is around 09:00 am. It’s crucial for everyone to arrive on time, as with any other tour. Please note that later check-in is possible and is subject to availability and extra cost.
The Aurorahut is a boat that floats in a remote place on Fjallsárlón glacial lagoon. You are going to be transported to the hut in one of our Zodiac boats. The walk to the lagoon takes about 7 minutes from Fjallsarlon reception and the transport by boat takes about 10-15 minutes. Please note that you cannot leave the hut during your stay.
The kitchen area has cupboards, a gas stove to heat water and sink with running water. We kindly ask you not to cook in the hut. The smell from cooking can be hard to remove and therefore might spoil the experience of future guests.
An evening basket and a light breakfast are included in the price. Breakfast, bread w. toppings, Icelandic skyr & coffee. Light dinner chicken & vegetable wraps. Drinking water is also provided. In addition, on arrival you can buy some drinks and snacks from our restaurant. We can also prepare a bottle of champagne or a bottle of white or red wine at an additional cost.
Some guests have an early dinner before arriving for check in.
Please do not take any big luggage with you, one backpack per person should be enough for the adventure with basics for a one-night stay. If you require additional snacks or drinks, you can bring that along too.
Yes, the Aurorahut is equipped with an excellent heating system, specially crafted in Finland to endure cold weather conditions. The temperature can be adjusted with ease on a digital screen to set the right temperature for you.
The hut has a basic composting toilet. Please note that there are no shower facilities available on location.
Yes, the huts all have a decking that offers a great viewpoint towards the glacier. Under the bed frame you will find outdoor chairs and a table, please remember to put them back inside the hut after each use. It is important to never leave the chairs, table, or any other items outside unattended.
Our guests must be able to walk to the boat (5-7 minutes each way), get on the boat and from the boat to the decking of the hut, therefore we do not advise people with reduced mobility to book the Overnight adventure.
You will be provided with an emergency phone that you can use to call our team in case of emergency 24/7. We ask guests only to use the phone if there is an emergency.
Cancellations made 2 weeks or more before your scheduled tour will be refunded in full. Cancellations made within 2 weeks are non-refundable. Please note that our guests’ safety and comfort are always the most important for us. Therefore, in case of severe weather conditions we might be forced to move huts from the water to the coast or cancel your booking. You would then need to find an alternative stay yourself.
